IN MEMORIAM: BETH MCINTYRE : The Advertising Club of Edmonton

It is with a heavy heart that the Advertising Club of Edmonton announces the passing of one of its founders, Beth McIntyre.

Beth and her husband Don had a vision in 1977 for an organization that would bind members of Edmonton’s growing advertising community together, no matter what discipline or role they had. It’s a vision that remains remarkably true today.

Beth’s career began as an office manager with McIntyre Advertising, the company she and Don founded in 1977. Over the years, Beth chaired and co-chaired countless committees including the Ace Awards and served as Club Treasurer. She was the Club’s President in 1988, a key member of the Grant MacEwan College advertising advisory board and a staunch supporter of the National Advertising Benevolent Society (NABS). After Don’s passing in 1983, Beth established the Don McIntyre Memorial Scholarship – helping students fall in love with advertising, just the way they had.

In 2010, ACE’s scholarship for NAIT students was re-named the Beth McIntyre scholarship.

As many of you know, Beth was ill for some time and her passing brings some measure of relief to her family. Memorial services will be held Sat Feb 12 at 1pm – St. Matthew’s United Church – 2039-26A St, Calgary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to NABS (or brain cancer research). Condolences can be sent through McInnis and Holloway (mcinnisandholloway.com)

We encourage you to take a moment and reflect on the strength of ACE today. Without a doubt, Beth McIntyre made it possible.
