On August 13, 2015, thirteen teams took to the greens at Victoria Golf Course for the 6th Annual Chesterfield Open. It was the perfect day to golf: sunny, warm and not a cloud in the sky. Not only were teams spoiled by the great weather, but also by golf goodies bags containing cookies by Confetti Sweets and other tasty treats.
Teams competed for ultimate glory, but it wasn’t easy. The front nine was riddled with challenge holes to test the athletes’ prowess. Not only did they have to play like Tiger, they had to do it left handed on “Opposite Hand” Hole 7 (presented by Starburst) and also prove they had superior Golf Pong skills on Hole 8 (Presented by DDB). And then there was Berlin’s Mystery Hole 6 where the teams were treated to refreshing ice cream sandwiches, a selection of fun tattoos and a few others things that will remain a mystery.
In fact, every hole had an outstanding sponsor, and it was great to see the advertising community come together to support ACE’s first major fundraiser of the 2015/2016 year:
- Awesome volunteers: Aaron, Jessica and Valentin – thank you!
After a grueling day, testing every participant’s stamina, endurance, and raw athleticism, golfers retired to the clubhouse for a delicious dinner prepared by Culina. It was then that the wait was finally over and winners were announced. Team 2 (Justin Archer, Jay Downton and Josh Brown) took home the top honour (Best Score) but plenty of other prizes were handed out, including:
- Ladies’ Longest Drive: Cheryl Meger
- Men’s Longest Drive: Bryan Haydey
- Closest to the ATB Hole-In-One: Adam Rozenhart
- Ladies’ Longest Putt: Dana DiTomaso
- Men’s Longest Putt: Darren Jacknisky
- Best Dressed: Kiri Wysynski, Jay Downton, Nicki Clarke and Gordon Montgomery
- Most Honest: Incite Team (Puneeta Sandhu McBryan, Josie Sagar, Jill Scheyk and Tiera Stauth)
But, in the end, even those less athletically blessed than the victors mentioned above went home winners; it was a great day of fun and networking for all involved. And no can can complain about playing hooky on a beautiful day to hang out with colleges on the greens, right? Right.
