Ryan Northcott

My name is Ryan Northcott and I've been producing award-winning content in Edmonton for the past 10 years. Working within the medium of film and digital video, I specialize in producing medium to large budget commercials, corporate videos and other promotional productions. As a producer, I am an expert at bringing any scale of production team together to bring a script to reality. As a director, I use my production skills and creativity to breathe new life into your concept or script. As a screenwriter, I have a proven track-record of developing winning ideas to tell compelling brand stories. Throughout my career I have been lucky to have the opportunity to produce some amazing video content for large Alberta agencies, including DDB, RED the Agency and C&B Advertising. Over the past 8 years I have been nominated for numerous AMPIA awards for my work, and have premiered my original films at festivals like Edmonton International Film Festival and Calgary International Film Festival. In addition, I am a licensed drone pilot with hundreds of hours of flight time on documentary, narrative and commercial projects and have a proven track record of safety and compliance within Transport Canada regulations. Outside of work I enjoy the outdoors through snowboarding, golfing and mountain biking. I am also a passionate amateur mechanic who enjoys building motorcycles and wrenching on cars.

My education qualifications include a bachelors of management degree with a specialty in marketing from the University of British Columbia - Okanagan. I specialize in all aspects of the video production process, but with a focus on concept development through screenwriting, producing content of any budget, and directing actors and non-actors in scripted or unscripted scenarios. I also specialize in interviewing - having conducted hundreds of interviews in my career for corporate and documentary projects. I have a strong expertise in getting people comfortable in front of the camera and able to tell their stories. I hold an advanced license to operate drones/UAVs in Canada and have hundreds of hours of flight time filming for narrative, documentary and commercial productions. My productions have garnered 18 award nominations at AMPIA and ACE awards, with 2 wins. My original productions have screened here in Edmonton and across the world at 6 film premieres.
