Position Overview

The developer role at Paper Leaf is a full-stack one – and will involve work on everything from server setups to CSS fine-tuning. You’ll be working in a modern web development environment on large/complex content-managed sites, web applications, and mobile applications for clients ranging from established businesses to international organizations and government corporations. Platforms and frameworks we use include Laravel, Statamic, WordPress, Filament, and React Native.

We realize the technical expectations are a big ask—we don’t expect you to know or have experience in everything right off the bat. A willingness and ability to learn is a big asset. At Paper Leaf, our developers are involved in projects from their inception, working with a consistent tight-knit, cross-functional team. You aren’t left in the dark until you’re handed a design file. You’re not only involved in the execution of the end product—you’re involved in the brainstorming & problem-solving parts of your projects, including planning with your team, code reviews, and more. Your role is crucial to the success of the company, our clients, and their projects.

The salary range for this position is $73,000 – $83,000.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high quality code for project needs
• Identify technical issues or risks and create solutions
• Responsible for the code quality and functionality of a project
• Advocates for development solutions with client and participates actively in meetings
• Provide feedback for development process
• Supports other developers with strategic and technical decision-making
• Act as a Laravel expert for existing projects

Requirements

To be considered for the position, here’s what you’ll have:

• 3+ years of back-end development experience in Laravel
• 2+ years front-end development experience (HTML/CSS/JS), preferably using Bootstrap as a responsive front-end framework
• 2+ years experience developing for content management systems (WordPress or Statamic experience is preferred)
• 1+ years of experience developing in a Javascript framework (React or React Native experience is preferred but not required)
• Server management experience (LEMP stack), or willingness / ability to learn
• Experience with Git/version control, or willingness / ability to learn
• Experience with web accessibility, or willingness / ability to learn
• A degree or diploma in a related field is an asset.

What We Offer

This is a full-time, salaried position at an expected range of $73,000-$83,000 per year, dependent on candidate experience. This is a remote-first position, open to applicants in Canada. The occasional travel and in-person meeting may be required. The estimated in person requirements for this role is less than 5 days per year.
