Opportunity

MacEwan University invites applicants for a position with our Office of Communications and Marketing on a six-month full-time non-recurring term position. This position focuses on storytelling and communications for external and internal audiences that align with and support the institution’s brand and strategic vision.

We are seeking a flexible, collaborative communication professional with well-rounded writing skills to create and edit content for a wide range of media including news and feature articles on the university website, promotional materials, publications and advertising. This individual will also assist in activities including: researching, writing, and executing communications plans, writing briefing notes for senior administration and coordinating communications tactics on department projects.

This is a six-month non-recurring full-time term position, which may potentially be extended to a continuing position following the close of the term appointment.

Education Requirements

SKILLS

The successful incumbent will possess:

  • proven writing skills for various media, including an understanding of best practices in writing for the web.
  • strong interviewing and editing skills.
  • strong organizational, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • the ability to coordinate, plan and organize multiple projects to deadlines.
  • the ability to deal courteously and tactfully with others.
  • the ability to work independently and as a team player.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor’s degree in Arts or Communications or applied degree or diploma in Public Relations.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in writing, public relations, communications, or marketing. Experience in a post-secondary environment is an asset, as is familiarity with using web content management systems.
  • Equivalences may be considered.

Location: Edmonton, AB

Salary: MSA Band E (Steps 1-8): $28.81 - $41.89 per hour
