READY, SET, MO! : The Advertising Club of Edmonton

by Jackie Whitson

Movember is upon us ladies and gentlemen, and it’s time for a little friendly moustache ad agency competition.

During November each year, Movember is responsible for the spouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces, in Canada and around the world. Through their Mo’s, these men, and the women that support them, raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and male mental health initiatives. Last year alone 246,000 Mo Bros and Mo Sistas helped to raise more than $42 million dollars in Canada.

This year Movember is calling on you – the ad and media agencies of Edmonton and Canada – to put the FUN back in fundraising. They have set up a little competition for the agencies of Canada to put their creativity to the test on who can create the biggest splash with their Movember efforts. By joining together as an agency, growing your moustache, and raising the bar in creative ways to approach fundraising, we can raise much needed awareness and funds for men’s health initiatives.

So put down those timesheets, sign up your team, rally your colleagues, and do whatever you need to do to out Mo the competition. Create a video, hold an event, build a giant moustache. You know you’re more creative than that agency down the street. So prove it! And while you’re at it, become walking, talking billboards for men’s health.

SIMPLE STEPS TO GET YOUR AGENCY INVOLVED:

1. Register your company team at www.Movember.com Please use ACE in Team Name to identify your Edmonton challenge, then email [email protected] with your team name so we can monitor your Mo’growth.

2. Encourage your colleagues, including Mo Bros and Mo Sistas, to sign up to your team.

3. Add your team to the Canadian Agency Challenge.

4. Get creative with your participation, and rise above the rest in your quest to change the face of men’s health!

So roam proud my friends, and show the rest of Canada what Edmonton’s agency community is made of. For those about to Mo, we salute you.
