Pixels and Pages: Design seminar : The Advertising Club of Edmonton

Description

The Alberta Magazine Publishers Association presents Pixels and Pages, a web design-focused seminar lead by designer, writer and creative director Michèle Champagne.

Champagne discusses the relationship between publishing, culture and technology when designing a magazine. She will share the redesign of Hazlitt magazine for Penguin Random House, and Flare magazine for Rogers Publishing. She will also share insights on launching That New Design Smell in Amsterdam, a self-initiated magazine dedicated to design criticism and dialogue.

Participants will come away with:

  • A better understanding of the “post-digital” landscape, both culturally and technologically.
  • A more holistic grasp of how magazine identity and reinvention works across media, and bringing teams together to make that happen.
  • A strong sense of ‘two-way-ness’ and what it means to have intimate conversations with readers on- and off-line.
