Senior Strategist : The Advertising Club of Edmonton

Job Description

As a Senior Strategist your days will be filled with exciting and creative work helping our clients navigate and overcome complicated and occasionally impossible challenges on their way to making a difference in our community, changing the world (even if just a bit) or growing their businesses. You get to be a problem solver, designing and executing communications, stakeholder engagement and political strategies that help organizations and businesses make our communities stronger and more resilient.

You will get to operate fully in the “Polis”, moving between the market sector, the government sector and civil society—seeking a shared purpose and communicating about and advocating for win-win solutions and ideas.

The right candidate for us will embody these values as well as meet the requirements and skills of this role.

You will:

  • Work with high profile innovation-focused clients trying to make a big impact on our community
  • Manage your own time effectively to balance project deadlines with the changing realities of the forces impacting our clients
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team; creating and executing communications, stakeholder engagement, public relations and advocacy strategies
  • Collaborate with our creative services team to express the dreams and visions of our clients publicly
  • Present your work to project team members and clients
  • Develop relationships and work with the media community
  • Provide mentorship to junior team members

Education Requirements

You have:

  • 8+ years’ professional experience working in community development, political or business environments or in communications and advocacy leadership positions
  • strong writing abilities
  • a deep understanding of the economic, political and cultural fabric of Alberta and its communities
  • the ability to articulate creative ideas and communicate professionally in person or in writing
  • an aptitude for collaborative creative thinking with sharp attention to detail within a fast-paced setting
  • an ability to manage multiple projects
  • an open mind and are curious about community and the world at large
  • a passion for nurturing relationships, mentoring, and collaborating with others to discover creative solutions for clients’ strategic goals

Please include some writing samples and let us know about any other skills that you have that relate to the work performed in a communications and advocacy industry.

We are an equal opportunity employer. We welcome diversity and encourage applications from all qualified people.

If you’re interested in applying, please e-mail a short cover note, resume, and your writing samples to Michael Walters at [email protected]. The position will remain open until filled.

Please don’t wait to send in your application; we will be reviewing them and conducting interviews on an ongoing basis. We’re grateful for everyone’s interest, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.

Thanks for your interest – we can’t wait to meet the next Berliner.
